This month we traveled into NW Portland to re-visit Bridgeport Brewing and see if they have anything new to share with us.
Summer Squeeze - the consensus is the squeeze is too lemony. Steve had the idea to clean his counters with it since it smelled lemon fresh. Ben thought the "yuzu" gave it the feeling of trying too hard.
Blue Heron Pale Ale - easy drinking pale and very smooth
Kingpin Double Red - "Solid beer", "good staple beer", "tastes red".
IPA - tame for an IPA, not too hoppy.
Hop Czar - good flavor, more robust and "more to it".
Nitro Porter - very smooth, sweet, dry stout
Dark Rain - tasty, pretty good. Steve thinks it tastes like charcoal. Scott said it was his favorite beer so far.
Old Knucklehead - tastes like candy. Sweetness, Scott's second favorite. Tastes better than we remember from our last visit. Ben said he would have trouble drinking a pint.
The food was good with a diverse menu and no complaints from our group. Rob twisted our arms and ordered some dessert. We didn't have any complaints there either.
And now for our TOP THREE
Ben - Dark Rain, Kingpin, Porter
Scott - Dark Rain, Old Knucklehead, Porter
Steve - Porter, Blue Heron, Dark Rain
Rob - Summer Squeeze, Dark Rain, Kingpin
Todd - Porter, Dark Rain, Kingpin
Bridgeport introduced the Dark Rain and Kingpin since our last visit and as you can see they both ended up on our favorites list.
Cheers,
Todd
