Golden Valley Brewery

On Friday, January 27th 2012 we visited the new Golden Valley Brewery location in Beaverton. They just opened on January 23rd and the place was very busy when we arrived.

The food was all very tasty and well presented. It is a little nicer than your typical "pub" food.
Rob - Alaskan Cod Sandwich
Steve - Ragin' Cajun burger
Ben - Pork Schnitzel
Todd - GVB BBQ burger

Here is the beer selection on the night we visited.
Kolsch
3rd Street Wheat
Chehalem IPA (Not over the top IPA)
Red Thistle Ale (classic English Extra Special Bitter)
Atlas Elevator Bock
Dundee Porter (Robust Porter)
Muddy Valley Oatmeal Stout (Ireland in a Glass)
Tannen Bomb (Winter Warmer)
??Rye IPA

The notes above are from the Golden Valley website. Our tasting revealed good solid offerings but nothing extreme. The Chehalem IPA was good but seemed to almost be Pale Ale. The Red Thistle is also good but very mild for an Extra Special Bitter. This could have easily fit into just a "Red Ale" category.

Our personal ranking-
Rob - Tannen Bomb, Oatmeal Stout, Red Thistle Ale
Steve - Atlas Elevator Bock, Red Thistle, Oatmeal Stout
Ben - Red Thistle, Dundee Porter, Chehalem IPA
Todd - Oatmeal Stout, Dundee Porter, Tannen Bomb

We also indulged in a few desserts. Often times desserts can be "hit and miss" but Golden Valley has at least 3 solid offerings. We had the Apple pie, Gingerbread & Snicker pie.

Overall it was a great visit. Thanks Rob for showing up early to save us a table. Scott, sorry you couldn't join us this month but hopefully you can make next month.

Cheers,
Todd
