A small attendance for the return Tood, Ben, Rob
Destination was ExNovo Brewing, a small brewery in North Portland. What makes them different... they are a non-profit brewing. Whats nto to be liked about drinking for a cause.
They had plenty of beers to choose from, which merited 3 taster trays. Some gimmicky names
DAMON STOUTAMIRE, STIFF UPPER LIP, CLASS MONKEY
They also make their own Malt Liquor. One type they mixed with orange juice and one was straight up. Not my cup of tea but A fcor originality I suppose. All of the beers were quite drinkable, no stinkers in the bunch, The Saison was pleasant as was the stout. Not sure any beers that would pull you back, but a nice local brewpub.
Foodwise they seem to be trying to buck the trend of burgers, pulled pork, etc... Instead hot dog, pork meatball banh mi , bbq chicken... What did stand out, bacon appetizer, simple enough a pint glass with 6-8 pieces of bacon. Turns out, to me anyway, this was delicious. Perfectly crispy, chewy bacon.
The entrees were fine but nothing spectacular. The dessert closer, a stout milkshake, Now this was quite good, perfect finish to a warm summer evening. I have seen floats but not shakes very often, and they did it very well.
So would I go back, sure bacon , a beer and a milkshake... works for me
